Since its inauguration in 2010, the Participatory Partnerships for Community Development (PPCD) have developed the capacity of RDCs in various ways through periodic training programmes such as:
ON-BOARDING TRAINING
On-boarding training is conducted for newly elected RDC executives and other stakeholders to develop their capacity in leadership skills and project management. The training also focuses on the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders and the operations of CNL under the GMoU model.
GENDER MAINSTREAMING
Training related to gender mainstreaming is a continuous activity conducted by PPCD. This is because of the strong cultural values and beliefs hindering the active participation of women in RDC activities. As a result of the trainings, more women are getting interested and are participating actively in RDC programmes.
RESOURCE MOBILIZATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Resource Mobilization and Project Management training is provided to strengthen the capacity of RDCs to implement projects in the most transparent and cost effective manner. PPCD also provides technical support to RDCs in proposal writing.
SOCIAL MOBILIZATION AND ADVOCACY TRAINING
PPCD conducts social mobilization and advocacy training to facilitate RDCs' and community stakeholders' capacity to influence policy and resource mobilization for sustainable development. This has enabled RDCs to carry out advocacy initiatives to relevant government agencies.
BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Workshops are also organized on budgeting to educate RDCs about procedures for securing funds from government and other funding agencies.
These trainings have increased the capacity of the RDCs and other stakeholders to manage and implement development projects as highlighted in the evaluation reports.
